Sanctuary Manager DutiesReports to: Executive Director · We are seeking an individual with good management skills and a professional manner who can delegate and operate in a positive mindset. Preference will be given to a non-smoker. · Manager will abide by policies in place and uphold the mission and vision of the organization. · This position requires that the manager live on-site in the mobile home provided. There is an attractive compensation packet for living expenses. · Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a drug test and background check. Animal ManagementResponsible for daily care and well being of Sanctuary animals, including follow-up checks (phone or in person) on foster care animals. Overseas the daily cleaning and feeding operation. Utilizes volunteer base and paid help and trains and delegates accordingly. Responds to intake or adoption requests (telephone, and e-mail messages) within 24 hours. Telephone messages will all be returned by close of the business day in which they are received. Determines need for veterinary care of animals & schedules appointments. Transports animals to vet clinic by coordinating with volunteers whenever possible. Appointments will be recorded/logged on a calendar & maintained as a hard-copy reference for Sanctuary office files and will also be noted in the individual file of each pet. Each animal must be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. A weekly schedule of veterinarian appointments will be emailed to Executive Director the weekend preceding as part of the weekly manager’s report. Transports animals to adoption site & requests help as needed to ensure that animals get their fair share of visibility & promotion. Abides by maximum number of animals allowed at Sanctuary. Grounds/home/equipment managementMaintains sanctuary & mobile home in clean, safe and smoke-free condition. All buildings and structures are open for inspection by the board and Executive Director at any time and with 48 hours prior notice for the mobile home. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning on Sanctuary facilities and vehicles. Schedules & follows up with appointments for maintenance established by businesses servicing the Sanctuary vehicle & appliances in home, etc. Business managementMaintains required reports and forwards to the Executive Director. In addition, a weekly report noting adoptions, in-takes, incidents, maintenance report and other pertinent operational information will be emailed to the Executive Director prior to Monday morning of each week, recapping the prior week’s activities and forecasting the upcoming week’s activities. Keeps accurate records of supply purchases and submits receipts weekly. Receipts will be submitted by 15th and last day of each month to the Treasurer. Attends board meetings as requested. Trains and supervises volunteers working with animals or performing chores and maintenance. Requests help as needed from the Volunteer Coordinator. Schedules and assigns tasks to people performing community service as they come to the sanctuary. Responds to voice messages and emails daily and carries pager/cell phone at all times during working hours. Schedules and trains volunteers and maintains a sign-in procedure for when they show up to work. Coordinates tours of sanctuary with local groups such as schools and girl scouts with help as needed from the Executive Director and board members. Duties of running the Sanctuary: 1. Basic custodial – daily checking, feeding & poop scooping for dogs & cattery. Cattery and dog pens should be cleaned daily and animals fed in the late afternoon. 2. Schedule vet appointments and transportation to vet location. 3. Medication administered on schedule and stored according to instructions. 4. Socialization/behavioral enrichment, training and grooming of animals. 5. Adoption promotion work (on-site and off-site). 6. Timely response to phone calls and clerical duties/essential paperwork. 7. Training and working with volunteers. 8. Shopping and purchase of supplies for animals and Sanctuary office. (Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.). 9. Grounds maintenance. 10. Home maintenance.
