We will be at Petsmart on the First three Saturdays of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with animals to adopt and directions to the Sanctuary.

We will have an information booth at the Wal-Mart on Valley Drive on the 4th Saturday of every other month, i.e. April, June, August, October, December and February and will be accepting donations from our wish list.

If you would be interested in becoming a Board Member of SHAS, click here for more information.

Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary shelters abused and abandoned dogs and cats and those needing a home because owners are no longer able to care for them. We practice a no-kill policy so needy pets have a place to live while we attempt to place them in new, loving homes. Animals that are not adopted live out their lives at Safe Haven in dignity, well cared for, and treated with love and respect. As a private, 501(c)(3), non-profit, tax-exempt organization, Safe Haven is not affiliated with or financed by any municipal, county, state, or federal government agency. We depend on the generosity of the community through monetary gifts, donations of items to our Thrift Shop, and Thrift shop sales.

Anyone interested in adopting a pet should make an appointment with the sanctuary manager by calling 575-805-5338. Adoption hours are  11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, or by appointment at other times.

Relinquishment Policy: We cannot accept surrendered animals at the Sanctuary without an initial phone interview with our animal program manager. No animals may be surrendered at the off-site adoption locations.

Animals will not be accepted if aggressive, feral or in poor health.
• We are a limited admission facility and can only accept animals based on space availability.
• All surrenders must be pre-coordinated by telephone. Call (575) 805-5338  or (575) 527-4544 prior to bringing an animal to us to see if we have space available and if we will be able to accept your animal.
• Understand that if we accept your animal we reserve the right to ask for a donation to cover the partial cost of care and placement of your pet.

Our current sanctuary facility is located on three acres of land on the east side of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, New Mexico. There are kennels, a cattery, and play areas accommodating up to 40 dogs and 30 cats. Upgrades to this facility are ongoing. Please go to Contact Us for directions.
